What is Real-World Pathways?

Real-World Pathways is a platform that connects students to career experiences at real workplaces. Schools, nonprofits and youth programs are matched with certified employers who host structured visits. It is a program of WealthWise Kids LLC, based in Atlanta, Georgia, and expanding nationally.

What it is

Real-World Pathways is a career-experience platform. It takes the school field trip and rebuilds it as a structured, certified, outcome-tracked visit to a real workplace. A school or youth program finds a host, the visit follows a defined format, and the student leaves with a record of what they did rather than a worksheet.

Joining is free for every kind of partner. Schools, nonprofits and employers create a profile at no cost, and every experience on the platform is free for students and for organizations. A Transportation Fund exists so that travel cost is not the reason a student misses an opportunity.

What it is not

The words we use, and what they mean

Pathway Site
A workplace certified to host students. Certification covers insurance verification, background checks and youth-safety training, and it is completed before any student sets foot inside. A Pathway Site is the place.
Field Lab
The structured experience a student does at a Pathway Site. It has a defined format, a host, and a record of what the student did. A Field Lab is the visit. Pathway Site and Field Lab are not interchangeable.
Career Field Trip
The plain-language name for a Field Lab, used when talking with families.
Real-World Pathway
A student's accumulated route through experiences across industries over time, rather than any single visit.
Community Partner
An organization that is neither a school nor an employer but brings students — a church program or a youth nonprofit, for example.
Transportation Fund
Grant- and corporate-funded support that exists so travel cost is not the reason a student misses an experience.

Common questions

What is Real-World Pathways?

Real-World Pathways is a platform that connects students to career experiences at real workplaces. Schools, nonprofits and youth programs are matched with certified employers who host structured visits. It is a program of WealthWise Kids LLC, based in Atlanta, Georgia, and expanding nationally.

Is Real-World Pathways free?

Yes. Every experience on the platform is free for students and for organizations, and joining is free for all partners — schools, nonprofits and businesses alike. There is no listing fee to create a profile and no fee for an employer to host.

Who is Real-World Pathways for?

Schools, nonprofits and youth programs that want career exposure for their students; employers who want to host students and be found by the programs looking for them; and counselors and career-readiness staff who have to show that an experience produced something.

How is a Field Lab different from a normal field trip?

A normal field trip visits a destination. A Field Lab visits a working business, follows a defined format, is hosted by a certified employer, and produces a record of what the student actually did. The difference is structure and evidence, not the bus.

Where does Real-World Pathways operate?

Atlanta, Georgia is the home market and the platform is expanding nationally. It is not nationwide today.

How are students kept safe?

Every Pathway Site is certified before hosting: insurance verification, background checks and youth-safety training. The platform is FERPA-compliant, and the safety standards are published on the site rather than described only on request.

Does Real-World Pathways place students in jobs?

No. Students visit workplaces. No one is hired through the platform and no wages are paid through it. It is career exposure, not employment.

Who runs Real-World Pathways?
